Countryside Veterinary Clinic, Fremont, OH

Description of Elective Experience:

Student will be engaged in examining, diagnosing, and treating a variety of small patients. We do surgeries 3 days/week, so the student will also be fully engaged in assisting with surgeries. As we are a mixed animal practice, the opportunity will arise to go on farm calls as well.  Occasionally, we do some exotic work as it arises. That cannot be depended on.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We are a 2 doctor practice with 1 licensed veterinary technician, 1 veterinary assistant, and 3 other support staff. The owner has greater than 40 years of experience and the other doctor has been out of school just shy of 8 years. We have a K-laser, in house laboratory equipment, and film radiographs. We have a full library of reference materials as the student's disposal.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

The office is open for appoints from 8am to 5:30pm Monday-Friday and from 8am-12pm on Saturday. There is a break of appointments from 12-2pm where student is free except in case of emergencies. Student will be expected to be present/seeing appointments with doctors during working hours/appointment times.
