Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

The student will work with Dr. Ratliff in surgery on non-elective cases, both at Cryans and in refeerral practices as those cases are available.  Around this the student will work with other of the doctors on dental work and other surgical cases.  Outpatient services will also be part of the experince, espcially with Dr. Balazs in her unique "wholistic" style.  The managment education will occur as the student sits in on formal ttraining sessions for other managers and medical directors, during less structured conversation as time allows, and during travel time with Dr. Ratliff.

This program is structured around Dr. Ratliff's schedule which varies greately with surgical case load and location at different hospitals.  Management discussions and formal training sessions are set up as the need occurs, ususally 1-2 weeks in advance.  The goal in this case would be to give the student a solid working overveiw of the financial and business side of a veterinary practice over the one month experinience.

The overall emphasis is surgery and business.  Experinces with other doctors and areas of practice will enhance the educational value and will be worked in to fill voids in menaingfull work with Dr. Ratliff on business and non-elective surgery.
