Description of Elective Experience: 

Community-oriented, predominantly small animal practice with 2% large animal clientele (predominantly small ruminants) in America's Friendliest City along the historic Lincoln Highway. Exposure to all facets of SA general medicine and surgery, as well as working with non-professional staff (personnel relations & management). We emphasize providing the very best care possible by treating our clients and patients professionally and with the utmost compassion.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We operate as a three DVM practice with in-house library and internet access to VIN. Professional staff includes four technicians and multiple client care specialists. Available amenities include Avimark software, Idexx laboratory services, SA and LA ultrasound units, ultrasonic dental equipment including, Abaxis chemistry machines, in-house SNAP 4D-x test kits, Tonovet, pulse oximetry, BP monitor and digital x-ray equipment.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Professional, neat (ironed!), clean appearance with excellent interpersonal skills. The student will have her/his knowledge base assessed by the supervising DVM to determine the student's readiness to see clients (with supervision) and to do surgery. Full-time mentoring available, Monday through Saturday.
