Dermatology for Animals, OH

Description of Elective Experience: 

Dermatology Specialty Practice. The student will be working with a dermatology resident primarily and some days with a boarded dermatologist. Most days are filled with initial and recheck appointments as well as calling and educating owners with results. Occasionaly an intradermal allergy test, biopsy or video otoscopy procedure will be performed. The student will be shadowing the doctor for the entire time.

Books and online access are accessible at the clinic.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The student will be required to be shadowing the doctor on all scheduled days from 8 until 5 or 6 pm. They will be asked to partake in sampling techniques and assisting in procedures if comfortable. They will be expected to make comments on cytology and clinical findings. They may be asked to provide clinical findings on physical examinations.
