Description of Elective Experience: 

Student will be expected to participate and interact with doctors, technicans, staff, owners and patients.

Student will be perfoming exams, formulating treatment plans, documenting using SOAP, under supervison of attending clinican.

Student will also have opportunity for surgery and dental activity.

Student will also have time to go on farm calls.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Computerized records, ultrasound, digital radiographs (general and oral), in house labs.

Surgery and dental suites.  Isoflurane anesthetic.

6 doctors on staff ranging from 36 to 4 years of practice experience.

6 certified technicans. 25 to 3 years experience

Office staff/receptionists, office manger, doctor assistances.

New building in 2015

 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Student hours are expected to be about 40 hours per week.   Clinic is open from 8 to 8 m/t/w/t, 8-6 on friday, 8-12 on saturday.

Emergency are referred after hours to 2 emergency clinics 20 minutes away.

Farm calls will vary depending on time of year and case load.  Opportunity for student to particiapte.
