Description of Elective Experience:
The student will have the opportunity to shadow DVM in a busy, small animal practice in surgery, dentistry and appointments. As opportunities arise we will allow student to work up problem cases and develop treatment plans undern the guidance of the DVM.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Our practice has currently includes 3 DVMs and 8 LVT. We have digital x-ray, abdominal ultrasound, digital dental x-rays. and laser therapy. One of our veterinarians is acupuncture certified and treats exotic patients. Our veterinarians and most of our LVTs are fear free certified.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
We will develop a specific work schedule that will be ~ 40 hours for the week. The student will be paired primarily with their DVM mentor, but will be encourged to spend time with all 3 of our DVMs .
