Students will be expected to work assigned days until completion, typically 10 hour days. Exceptions can be made if the student has a conflicting appointment or event, this must be communicated at the beginning of the externship before the schedule is set. Students will be fully integrated into daily operation and surgery. By the end of the externship students should feel confident in their ability to manage a high volume cat surgery day. The student should also feel confident in their abilities to spay and neuter cats as well as vaccinate dogs and cats of all behavior levels. Surgery days can be m-f with the occasional Saturday clinic. Vaccine clinics are typically held on Saturdays. No Sunday clinics are scheduled. At least one Saturday each month is not a scheduled clinic day. Hours start as early as 630am and as late as 8am. Clinic end times are typically between 4-6pm.
