Description of Elective Experience: 

Small animal full service veterinary hospital serving our community. Working families with multiple pets make up a good amount of the client population. Experience will be mostly to be present and participate in the work flow and dynamics of the practice.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

26 onsite employees including 5 DVMs, 1 office manager, 1 supervisor, receptionists, assistants, technicians, and groomers. We are part of AZ Pet Vet, a group of 21 locations. Equipment: Ultrasound, Companion cold laser, Ellman radiosurgery, digital radiography as well as digital dental radiography and high speed dental equipment.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Will shadow and mimic a full time DVM schedule. 4-5 days/week ~40hours/week. Will rotate schedule to have student participate in early shifts, surgery shifts, closing shifts, as well as weekend shifts. Student will have opportunity to interact with clients and staff. Will participate in history taking, treatment plan formulation, diagnostics and some proceedures. Case review and discussion with all doctors on staff
