Description of Elective Experience:
Gahanna Animal Hospital is an 8 doctor practice with doctors with special interest in areas such as acupuncture , orthopedic surgery , behavior ,reproduction, and internal medicine. I will try to show senior students what can be done in private practice and what needs referral. I also discuss practice evaluation, handing difficult clients, doctor pay strategies and working with breeders and welping.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Staff of 55 people, digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, EKG ,computerized office operation, 8000 sq ft building.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Work the same schedule as Dr Worman. Three 8 to 10 hour days of appointments. One day of surgery,usually 8 hours. Off Fridays and work 1 out of 3 Saturday . Student will perform surgerys as opportunity presents itself.
