Description of Elective Experience:
Learning to work in a team environment and applying communication skills. Student will be encouraged to apply surgical and book based knowledge while interacting with clients and patients.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
A high volume, 2 doctor, small animal practice. Other staff is composed of 6 veterinary assistants and receptionist. The doctors see patients and dedicate 2-3 hour gap to perform elective and emergency surgical procedures including but not limited to c-sections, spay, neuter, foreign body, mass removals, laser therapy, and acupuncture.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Performing physical exams, gathering history, assisting during surgical procedures, performing any necessary diagnostics, etc.
