Description of Elective Experience:
Haven Animal Hospital is a small animal (cat/dog) practice that serves the community of Grand Haven, MI. We perform routine vaccinations, wellness visits, sick exams, diagnostic workups, and perform various soft tissue surgeries.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
We have 2 full time DVMS, two licensed veterinary technicians, 1 employee training to become an LVT, 4 room assistants, and 4 receptionists.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
The student is expected to work a total of 5 days the week they are here. This can be all 5 weekdays or can be one weekday off with working the weekend. This will result in roughly a 36 hour week. The student will be expected to work side by side with a doctor and helping the doctor by performing a supplementary physical exam and helping with the diagnostic workup.
