Description of Elective Experience: 

Rural Mixed animal practice with an extensive canine, bovine, feline and equine caseload. Students receive a large amount of hands on experience under direct supervision  of one of the 3 attending veterinarians at the practice. Large amount of canine orthopedic surgeries as well as other small animal surgeries. Hospital has 3 full time veterinarians, 2 mixed animal, and 1 small animal. Practice includes about 40% canine, 30% bovine, 15% equine and feline.

3 full time doctors, 3 full time techinicians, 1 full time assistant, 2 kennel technicians and 2 front desk employees

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are allowed to pick what cases they want to work on, typical work week is 40-60 hours. If there is down time, students are expected to help around clinic with anything that needs to be done (cleaning, wrapping surgery packs, etc). Hands on experience is a priority and students are encouraged to partake as much as possible.

Small studio apartment, above the clinic barn. One dog allowed, no cost to student.
