Heritage Veterinary Care, OH

Description of Elective Experience:

Comprehensive small animal experience. Includes internal medicine, surgery, and alternative medicine. Student will get hands on experience in clinical setting. Includes an overview of interpreting financial statements and making decisions based on those statements.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

Three veterinarians, three technicians and 12 assistant and CSR staff, all of which are highly trained and very good at mentoring. Clinic built in 2019. Digital dental and full body radiographs, surgical and therapeutic lasers, and ultrasound will all be used during rotation. We do most of our own radiographic interpretations and tumor evaluations as well.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

The student will take histories, perform physicals, form differentials, determine diagnostic and therapeutic plans. After testing, he/she will be expected to interpret results and communicate diagnosis and treatment to clients. Students will scrub in on surgeries and perform routine neuter and sprays with supervision. If the mentee has a specific interest, we will do our best to give you experience in the interest.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

The student is welcome to stay at the home of Dr. Pendleton. We are set up to handle an additional pet in a safe manner. There are two hotels nearby as well. They run about $100 per night.
