Description of Elective Experience: 

Day to day small animal practice procedures from history taking , SOAP creation,  scheduleing visits,  restraining patients, blood drawing and sample prep.   Surgery prep and observing surgical procedures,  Recovery of post surgical patients. Suture material / suture patterns if time allows.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

2 staff veterinarians,   1 CVT,  1 vet assistant.   Equipment consists of full radiology including Ultrasound, dental radiographs.  Full chemistry / hematology lab also prepping samples for ref. lab,  Laser therapy.  Also we have a Board Certified Surgeon for Orthopedic procedures.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Arrive to office on time, clean and courteous to staff and clients.  Some knowlege of labatory protocols including blood draws.  Student should be able to collect patient history, vital signs,  draw blood, insert IV catheter and IV line.
