Student will be working with evaluation, preventive medicine and treatment of shelter animals, may also be involved in preparation of shelter animals for elective surgery.Student will be involved in physical exam, diagnosis and treatment protocol of private client pets. Student may be involved assisting the veterinarian in daily surgeries .
The Humacao Animal Shelter consist of two areas; the shelter and the hospital. Our hospital have 3 exam rooms , Laboratory (microscope, Scil cbc analyzer, abaxis blood chemistry, multiple in house infectious diseases snap test ), digital x-ray, surgery room with Halothane anesthesia , electro cauterization, autoclave, endoscope, iv fluids machine, Avimark paperless software, opthalmo/otoscope.
Student will be attending Monday thru Friday from 8am-4pm with 1 hour for lunch. Saturday from 8am -12n. A. License veterinarian will be with the student at all times. Student will be involved in all daily activities of the hospital
