Our focus will be on teaching HQHV spay/neuter and shelter population management. Students will also have opportunities to shadow practitioners in the general medicine clinic associated with the Humane Society to showcase access-to-care practices.
Six doctor practice with associated CVTs and support staff. Surgery area has three positive-pressure operating suites and associated equipment. General practice clinic has four exam rooms and equipment includes in-house laboratory, digital radiography (including dental), and ultrasound.
Students will be expected to be at the clinic Monday through Friday from 8am to 4-6pm depending on which doctor they are working with for the day. In the general practice hospital, they will shadow. In the shelter side, they will shadow when overseeing case management but will scrub in and perform spays and neuters in a mentored setting.
