Description of Elective Experience: 

If you are considering a career in mixed animal medicine in a tight knit small-town community, come visit the Independence team! We are a three-doctor practice with a strong support staff that allows us to provide high quality care. We enjoy a diverse medical and surgical caseload while equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, therapy laser, indoor stocks, outdoor pen area, hydraulic tilt chute, and an OB chute.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Physical exams (including cow/calf)
Formulate treatment plans
Diagnostic interpretation
Assisting surgeon
Dentistry - prophylaxis & extractions
Client communication
Obtaining medical histories
Anesthesia planning & monitoring
Join DVM on emergency calls
Maintain medical records
