Description of Elective Experience: 

Experience with layer vaccination programs, technical support and analysis for all aspects of the production departments (layers, pullets, and feed mill), experience in animal welfare management issues and related audits, exposure to egg processing quality programs and related audits, exposure to procedures in an ISO 01725:2017 certified food laboratory

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Ise Newberry has multiple contract farms, 4 production supervisors, an ISO 01725 certified food laboratory, shell egg processing plant, liquid egg processing plant, and a feed mill

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Student is expected to work with the veterinarian and her staff at a minimum 45 hours per week Monday through Friday.  If there are obligations in production over the weekend the student is expected to participate.  The student will be shadowing and performing assigned duties as they arise. 

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

No cost to student, stay with the veterinarian and her family at her house, all amenities of a home included
