Description of Elective Experience: 

Fast-paced mixed-animal practice located in Southeast Missouri. Approximately 70% small animal and 30% beef cattle. 

Scope of practice: routine wellness, sick-visits, general surgery, herd work, etc. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Staff: Two full-time DVMs with six technician/office staff.

Small animal: In house laboratory and pharmacy, digital radiography, surgical suite with two anesthesia machines, electrosurical unit, dental equipment. Small animal buliding completely remodeled in 2019.

Large animal/beef cattle: new haul-in facility built in 2017 - features drive-thru unloading, safe and efficiant working facilities, Easi Scan Go ultrasound - students can view using smart phone. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Monday thru Friday 8am - 5pm, Saturday 8am - Noon. If possible be available for rare after-hours emergency care.

Students expected to be hands-on and will be supported by a veterinarian at all times. Student allowed to practice at their comfort level, but encouraged to assist in all aspects of the veterinary profession. 

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

Small apartment at clinic includes kitchen and bathroom. Internet and TV available. No cost to the student.
