Description of Elective Experience:
Students will gain field experience working in commercial turkey production.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
In-house labs and necropsy equipment, team of staff veterinarians.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Flexible hours depending on staff vet schedules for the week, expect around 40+.
Farm visits for understanding of commercial poultry industry as well as diagnostic investigation primarily with direct supervision of staff vet.
Necropsy & lab work, literature review & discussion, etc.
Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):
Occassionally housing may be available depending on number of students at the time and location of externship.
