Jensen's Animal Hospital, MI (PLC)

Description of Elective Experience: 

Direct observation of veterinarians (surgery-both orthopedic and soft tissue, dental procedures and extractions, routine appointments and physical exams, medical charting, etc). 

May be asked to help restrain animals, draw blood, place catheters, monitor anesthesia, recover animals from anesthesia, basic care of animals while in hospital (feed, water, walk, clean).

May be asked to assist on large animal calls.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

5 1/2 Veterinarians, 3 LVTs.

Digital Radiography, Digital Dental Radiography.

Abdominal & thoracic ultrasound.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Monday - Friday (8am-5/5:30 pm, we work until the work is done)

Saturday (8-12pm), most likely just 1-2 saturdays (flexible).

On-call with Dr. Henning every Wednesday night (5:30pm-8am)
