A two-week Biological Safety Level 3 Training Program to provide introductory BSL-3 hands-on training to exemplary students in coordination with the Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) at Kansas State University. This program is open to graduate and upper-level undergraduate students who are interested in research and careers in the field of high consequence, transboundary animal, emerging and zoonotic diseases. This program also connects students to researchers around the world to give them exposure to people, work and facilities in government, academia and industry settings to explore future careers or collaborations.
This is a funded project through the Department of Homeland Security hosted by Kansas State University. All educational resources will be provided by both the staff at Biosecurity Research Institute at Kansas State University and by the Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases.
This is a two week course 8am-6pm Monday through Friday. They will have hands on experience at the Biosecurity Research Institute during the first week. The second week will be learning from global experts in the field of high consequence, transboundary animal, emerging and zoonotic diseases.
We offer student housing at $50 per day that would be paid through the stipend amount of up to $2,000. If the student chooses to find their own accomodations, they will have find their own housing and pay for their own accomodations.
