Description of Elective Experience: 

We are a five doctor, busy small animal hospital.  Students will be shadowing doctors with up to thirty years of experience.  The responsibilities will include client communication, physical exams (to compare with staff vets), anesthesia, surgical assistance, dental evaluation and therapy, ultrasonography, radiology case rounds, clinical pathology as well as some technical duties.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Resources include a full library, VIN, Plumb online as well as traveling specialists that visit the hospital.  We utilitze digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, K-laser, capnography, pulse oximetry, double occupancy surgical suite for soft tissue and orthopedics and provide a large boarding facility with daycare for dog's socialization.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students will shadow different days with different doctors since we are open seven days.  Students will always have at least two doctors to shadow and seek assistance from as needed.  The hours may vary but will be 40/week over 4-5 days.
