Laurelton-Bayside Animal Hospital, NY

Description of Elective Experience:

This is a single veterinarian practice at the moment. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the mornings are filled with procedures such as dentistry, surgery, mass removals etc. The afternoons are typically filled with appointments. On Tuesdays,  the entire day is devoted to appointments. Friday, the veterinarian is not on site and the hospital sees only tech appointments. Throughout the week, drop off appointments are accommodated based on the needs of the patient and staff availability.
Appointments typically run from 9 am to 12 pm and restart at 2 pm - 5 pm. The veterinarian will use the non appointment hours to call clients back with diagnostics, answer pressing questions and work on operational tasks for the hospital.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We are a community oriented small animal practice that primarily focuses on wellness, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. As specialty care is lacking in our geographic areas, we will on occasion take on more complex cases. Our practice performs approximately 4-5 dentals per week. There are multiple opportunities to practice collecting blood, ear cytology, mass aspirations, blood smears, radiograph interpretation, ultrasound guided cystogenesis, and aFAST/tFAST.
