Description of Elective Experience:
Primarily high volume spay/neutering and also general shelter medicine. Other surgical options may be available.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
One veterinarian, two anesthesia machines, dental unit with ultrasonic scaler, digital x-ray, and POC ultrasound.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
This will be 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and roughly 8 hours per day starting at 8:30AM. This student will have the opportunity to perform spay/neuter on shelter animals. There may be opportunities for other surgeries or dental cleaning on shelter animals as well.
