Description of Elective Experience:
Student will have the opportunity to communicate with clients to obtain histories, educate them on services and products offered and work with the mentor doctor to perform physical exams and medical procedures and to assist with diagnostic and treatment procedures, including bloodwork, cytology, ultrasound, dental cleanings and surgery.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
10 DVM small animal and exotic practice. AAHA Accredited. 42 support staff. Digital xray, dental xray, ultrasound, endoscope, thermal imaging and laser therapy available.
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
The hospital is open Monday through Friday 7:30am - 8:00pm and Saturday 7:30am - 2:00pm. The student's schedule will be matched to her mentor.
