Lodi Veterinary Care, WI

Description of Elective Experience:

Our clinic has doctors that specialize in small animal, large animal, and equine.  Our practice consists of general preventative care, reproduction, dentistry, as well as any emergency calls that arise. The majority of the cases we see are on-farm, however, we have a facility to perform elective surgeries as well as see cases in house.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

Our equine department has 6 veterinarians, 2 CVT's, and 2 VTA's.  We have 2 digital radiograph units, gastroscope, ultrasounds, shockwave, etc.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

The student is expected to be present at our clinic from 7:30am-5pm dependent upon the schedule, emergencies, etc.  We do not require students to work weekends or help with cases in house, however if they show interest in these, we are happy to encourage them.  Student is expected to shadow the veterinarian and support would be requested depending on the case, student experience, and competence.
