We hope to provide a hands-on experience in the veterinary medical field and how it pertains to rural southeastern Ohio. Meeting the demands of our community in providing pet care, providing education to the client, understanding the financial restraints on the client, all while trying to offer the best possible vet care we can for the pet, is part of the day-to-day experience at our clinic.
We provide routine care, education, vaccines, dental cleanings and spay/neuter surgeries to our clients. We also provide a multitude of non-routine services as well, such as, cystotomys, c-sections on dogs and cats, mass removals, dental extractions, leg amputations etc.
Any extern coming into our practice will have the opportunity to experience all of this and more. They will see the routine veterinary medicine, the hectic moments, the emergencies, but will be learning each and every day at our clinic.
Masterson Veterinary Clinic is Mixed Animal practice and we have 5 full time and 2 part-time veterinarians, 6 registered veterinary technicians, 7 veterinary assistants, 5 receptionists and 3 kennel attendants on staff. We provide small and large animals care to the people of our community and the the surrounding area.
For diagnostics we currently have digital radiography, digital dental radiography, cold laser and Idexx in-house blood machines . We have our own pharmacy and seldom script out medications to outside pharmacies.
Masterson Veterinary Clinic will expect the student to arrive at 8-9 am and we are open until 8 or 9pm Monday - Saturday every week. The student schedule may change week to week, but will be expected to complete the externship at the clinic, total hours may be 35+ hours each week, sometimes that may be more depending on emergencies. We will expect that the student will be able to complete exams, assist in office hours and perform minor surgeries (only while supervised by 1 of our 7 veterinarians) and work up cases by performing diagnostics, also while supervised.
