The student will participate in seeing and managing clinical cases with attending clinicians, will participate didactic rounds and case based discussions both within the department and as a part of collaborative care discussions. MedVet Cincinnati gives student externs an opportunity to experience a high volume, high quality Emergency and Specialty private referral hospital.
MedVet Cincinnati is a 24/7 facility Emergency and Specialty Referral Hospital staffed by approximately 140 team members including doctors and staff comprsing 13 specialty departments including Emergency and Critical Care. Specialty departments are well equiped with equipment including on-site MRI, CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasonography, Endoscopy/Arthroscopy, Linear Accelerator and IMRT, point of care Ultrasound in Emergency and Anesthesia, Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation, Underwater treadmil, Acupuncture, Therapeutic laser, ICU Mechanical Ventilation and more. Online journal access for JAVMA, AJVR and the existent 13 specialty departments is available. Specialty services offered at MedVet Cincinnati include Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Radiation and Medical Oncology, Surgery, Anesthesia, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, and Neurology.
Student externs can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week. Schedules will be tailored to meet the student's and department's needs. Student externs will shadow attending clinicians with the potential to provided actual support under direct supervision of the attending clinician.
Housing is the responsibility of the student.
