Millbrook Equine Veterinary Practice, NY

Description of Elective Experience: 

Students will be riding with a veterinarian on their daily rounds and emergency calls. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Millbrook Equine is a 5 doctor equine ambulatory practice which has a board certified theriogenologist and does about 40% reproduction and the remaining 60% is sport horse medicine and preventive care. 

MEVC provides: gastroscopy, digital radiographs, ultrasound, shockwave, PRP, IRAP, BAL 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

The student is expected to attend routine and emergency calls with the assigned veterinarian. There will be a minimum of 40 hours a week and students are encouraged to attend evening and night emergencies if possible. Responsibilities are primarily shadowing on such a short rotation.
