VSES is a 28,000 square foot facility that houses our emergency service and our specialty practice.  VSES is supported by many boarded specialists including Surgeons (2), Internists (2), Ophthalmologist (1) and a Radiologist (1).  We have part time support a boarded Neurologist and Dermatologist.  Our emergency service is staffed by six attending clinicians, five of which are internship trained and one ABVP Diplomate.  Our licensed technical staff includes individuals with ECC certification. The VSES facility is well equipped with rigid and flexible endoscopy, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, 1.0 Tesla Siemens MRI, 2 diagnostic radiology rooms with Konica Image Pilot Computed Radiography, Toshiba Xario ultrasonography, Sonosite M-turbo portable ultrasonography for emergency staff, off site helical CT, complete onsite full service diagnostic laboratory and comprehensive surgical facilities.  Our diagnostic imaging modalities are supported by Viztek Opal-Rad PACS and DICOM viewer.  MVA is committed to teaching, mentoring and continuing education.  This facility also includes a new 3500 square foot addition, dedicated to veterinary continuing education.  We are currently planning for renovation of clinical treatment room space and addition of on-site 16-slice CT.  Individuals who choose an externship at VSES will benefit from attendance and active participation in daily clinical and didactic rounds. General Practice externships are available with the flagship hospital of MVA, The Animal Hospital of Pittsford (AHOP), as well as our walk-in community clinic, Rochester Community Animal Clinic (RCAC).  AHOP, a 14,000 square foot facility, provides exposure to the operations of a progressive general practice under the supervision of six dedicated general practioners, three of which have completed internships.  Rotations with RCAC provide community wellness and urgent care outpatient services as well as the opportunity to observe and participate in low income, high volume spay/neuter clinic.
