Description of Elective Experience:
Students can expect to receive supervised hands-on HQHVSN experience and techniques as well as evaluation and treatment of common conditions in a shelter environment.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
2 doctor practice with 1 RVT and support staff on-site daily
-2 exam rooms
-2 table surgical suite
-digital and dental xray
-handheld ultrasound
-surgical cutting laser
-student desk and workstation provided
-ASV membership
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Expect 10 hour day, 4 days per week (but can be flexible if needed). Depending on student experience and comfort level student can expect to get hands-on experience in HQHVSN procedures and providing evaluation and treatment recommendations to pets in the adjoining municipal shelter.
