Description of Elective Experience: 

Morgantown Veterinary Care will work to give you general practice work experience along with mentorship, and exposure to day-to-day general practice and day emergency cases, with some guided business and management exposure as well.

We will strive to give you the opportunity to practice and learn the skills necessary to becoming a proficient general practitioner in a fun and supportive environment.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Multiple RVTs, high staff to doctor ratio.  In-house Idexx lab and reference sendout labs, digital radiography, and handheld ultrasound.  Online access to veterinary literature, proceedings, i.e. VIN, AVMA.  

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Monday through Saturday appointment and surgery hours, 45-50hrs/wk with at least one student surgery day per two weeks on site--feral/county-owned canine/feline sterilization procedures.  Dental procedures scheduled with staff and doctor pets for hands-on student experience.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

A small house (administrative offices and storage for MVC) next to the office with a private bedroom and full bathroom, kitchen, internet, and television.  A well-behaved pet is permitted.
