Napoleon Veterinary Clinic, OH

Description of Elective Experience:

We are a predominately small animal four doctor veterinary clinic in rural northwest ohio.  We have an extensive support staff which includes 7 licensed technicians.  It is our mission to provide to our clients the best possible and proactive medicine that we can which includes but is not limited to wellness screening, in house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, soft tissue and routine surgeries.  We also provide medical care for a few beef, sheep and goats as well as exotics in our area.  The student will be able to follow along side one of our doctors and assist in patient care and client education.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Over the years, we have had many students spend time in our facility.  We allow them to follow one of our doctors throughout the day and experience the day to day runnings of a rural practice.  They are included in our discussions on patient care and the options that we provide to the pet owners.  It is truly valuable to experience a non-university setting before graduating and going on to the students first work experience. We are open approximately 53 hours a week and scheduling will be decided on a case by case basis.
