Description of Elective Experience: 

Students will experience the many aspects of working in an AAHA accredited, full-service veterinary practice. In addition to our AAHA accreditation, Neffsville Veterinary Clinic has been recognized as a Feline Friendly practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners. Our practice, starte din 1970, offers a vast array of services including: 

Students partaking in the Neffsville offsite elective experince will gain hands-on, practical knowledge of these various services and more. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Student externs will have access to: 

  • A team of nine veterinarians
  • 65+ support staff
  • Open 7-days/week
  • Digital Radiology equipment (including dental)
  • Full in-house diagnostic laboratory system (Heska)
  • State-of-the-art surgical suite, monitoring & recovery equipment
  • Surgical Laser
  • Therapy Laser
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are expected to uphold the highest standard of care while completing their externship at Neffsville Veterinary Clinic. As our practice is open 7-days/week, students are expected to participate during weekend as well as evening hours. Students will begin by shadowing the veterinarians and will hopefully progress into a more supportive role. Arrangements can be made with the local humane league to increase surgical experience.
