We are a four DVM AAHA certified hospital. Dr. Riggs is an Avian Specialist. The exotic veterinary staff also includes a Resident in Avian Practice and a Resident in Reptile and Amphibian practice. We have a "main" exotic hospital, an outpatient clinic and are members of a central hospital for exotic emergencies. We see avian/exotic routine clientele cases as well as referrals from around and out-of-state. In addition to our exotic practices, we have an active wildlife practice, taking care of a county wildlife rehab service and working with private wildlife rehabilitators. We also provide veterinary care for Ohio's largest exotic animal rescue, housing over 200 exotic animals. Additionally Dr. Riggs is the veterinarian for the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and runs Wild4Ever Wildlife Conservation Foundation which particpates in Ohio based conservation projects. The elective experience will participate in all facets of our practice and get exposure to a wide range of exotic animal veterinary experiences.
All of our technical staff are registered veterinary technicians with years of exotic experience. We utilize avian/exotic hospitalization units and 7 day a week in-patient care. Our practice is well equipped with micro-surgical instruments, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery, surgical and therapy laser, ultrasound, digital radiology and CT scanning capabilities. We utilize cutting edge therapeutics and work closely with pharmaceutical specialists.
We are flexible with hours. We are open 7 days a week. Shadowing will be a starting point for their experience and evolve into treatments and diagnostics with the support of the clinicians. Off-site experiences at the facilities we service will be available.
