Northridge Animal Clinic, OH

Description of Elective Experience:

Primary small animal with some pocket pet and exotic species.  We also do wildlife rehabilitation.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:

We are a fully equipped veterinary clinic consisting of a full in-house labratory, digital radiology, dental radiology and dental drill, Companion therapy laser, ultrasound machine, and a fully stocked pharmacy.  We have 3 full-time veterinarians and 7 registered veterinary technicians here to assist you.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:

Normal work day is 8-5 or 8-6 and 8-12 on Saturdays.  No emergency hours, but some emergencies do come in during normal business hours.  Students will start off shadowing and then can eventually start seeing patients on their own with a veterinarian to oversee and finalize diagnosis and treatment plans.  We deal with a lot of rescues and have a high surgery caseload, so opportunities exist to perform supervised surgeries as well. Surgery is completed usually three days a week and we complete a wide variety of surgeries, from soft tissue to some orthopedics.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):

Some housing may be available depending on time of year.
