Northwest Mobile Vet, OR

Description of Elective Experience: 

Northwest Mobile Vet is a mixed animal practice located near Portland, Oregon with a focus on backyard/hobby farms. Llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, pet pigs, cattle, and chickens comprise the majority of our workload. We perform everything from routine preventative care to complicated field surgery. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

NWMV has 4 doctors, 3 assistants, and 1 receptionist. Surgical and diagnostic tools are available and used on a daily basis. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are expected to work M-F and have an interest in small ruminant medicine. Students will get hands on experience dependent on their knowledge and interest. 

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

There are multiple airbnbs and student housing available in the area. Students are expected to rent a car in order to meet at the morning meeting place each day.
