Description of Elective Experience: 

Clinic is a Fear Free Certified Practice. My priority as a practice owner is a high level of commitment to client education. Mentoring veterinary staff, students, and new graduates makes the education and knowledge base for increased level of client education successful. I am also very passionate about work:life balance and helping veterinary professionals understand how to take care of veterinary patients and themselves. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Clinic is a Fear Free Certified Practice. Technologically, the clinic offers: ultrasound- soft tissue and orthopedic; Stance analyzer; Therapeutic laser; Platelet Rich Plasma centrifuge and therapy; Thermal imaging camera; Underwater Treadmill; Dental Radiography; Dental bonded sealant therapy; Surgical laser; in-house Heska CBC/Chem/Blood type/Coagulation panel/Hormone panel/UA and fecal AI; Blood pressure (4 units); Tonometry; Staff ratio is 4 techs to 1 doctor. All anesthesia cases have a dedicated vet nurse with pulse ox, EKG, blood pressure, Bair hugger, record keeping.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Our clinical hours are M-F 8am to 5pm. The student will shadow the doctor in appointments and surgeries, observing client communication styles and discussions regarding treatment options. The student will select 2 cases a week to research and discuss further with the doctor. The student will be allowed to assist with hands on treatments and communicate with staff treatment plans.
