Description of Elective Experience:
One of a Kind Spay/Neuter Clinic provides 10,000+ spays and neuters annually for our rescues and the public. We also provide medical care to the 400+ dogs and cats in our shelter and foster care program.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Two to three DVMs available daily for mentorship.
Two to four RVTs available daily for mentorship.
Full surgical suite with three operating tables for spay/neuter and soft tissue procedures (enucleations, mass removals, limb amputation, etc)
Dental machine
Xray and dental xray
PetMap blood pressure
Tonopen
Basic physical exam supplies (otoscope, stethoscope, etc)
IV fluid pumps
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Hours will be Monday through Friday 8am to roughly 4 pm. Students will shadow DVM or RVT at all times.
