Our AAHA-Accredited four-doctor small mammal practice treats patients ranging from cats and dogs to ferets, rats and rabbits. The student will observe and assist with out-patient appointments, such as sick consultations and preventative care appointments. They will observe and assist with surgical procedures such as routine spays, neuters, declaws, and dentals, as well as more technical surgeries such as growth removals and emergency exploratory surgeries. They will observe and assist with various diagnostic tools such as bloodwork, digital x-ray, digital cytologies and ultrasounds. The student will also participate in daily doctors rounds.
We serve clients that consider us and their pets as part of their family in the west suburbs of Chicago.
We are proud to have four expectional veterinarians that have remarkable longevity with our hospital:
- Dr. Linda Flieg, owner of ORAH for 28 years, 33+ years in veterinary medicine
- Dr. Cheryl Distajo, 18 years with ORAH
- Dr. Joel Huffman, 17 years with ORAH
- Dr. Kristen Kennedy, 12 years with ORAH
We have a strong support staff of three CVTs, over fifteen veterinary assistants, four customer service representatives, and a management team.
We have a sterile surgery suite, three anesthsia machines, three wet sinks for treatment, in-house laboratory equipment for bloodwork, urinalysis, and digital cytologies, an ultrasound machine, a bronchscope, a digital x-ray machine in its own room, dental x-ray, cleaning and extraction equipment.
The student will be responsible for developing technical skills, client communication and education skills, surgery skills, and more. Hours may vary based on student and doctor availability.
Our practice is not open on Sundays.
