Description of Elective Experience:
OMVC is a 3-Dr small animal practice in Owings Mills, MD. We serve a wide range of clientele from the suburbs surrounding Baltimore as well as the city itself. We see both wellness and sick cases, including urgent care, on a daily basis, as well as offering a wide variety of soft tissue surgery, imaging, and in house (and out) labs.
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
2 techs per Dr
X-ray + Ultrasound
Soft tissue surgery + dentistry
in house labs (BW + UA)
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Dr Paynter is on ~33hrs per week (Mon-Thurs). We are open Mon-Sat (close early @ 1pm), closed on Sun. Students are welcome to, but not expected to, jump in to help throughout the day.
Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info):
No direct housing, but stipend is provided by UVC to help cover costs of local stay.
