Description of Elective Experience: 

Mixed animal medicine and surgery consisting of small animal diagnosis, treatment, surgery and large animal diagnosis, treatment, surgery.  Large animal will also consist of reproductive work, primarily pregnancy diagnosis and open cow management.  Also, livestock market work will be included for beef cows and feeder cattle.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Currently 2 doctor practice with 2 locations and 6 support staff.  Modernly equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, blood analysis equipment, cutting and therapy lasers and all other common equipment and supplies.  In house equine facilities with stocks and stalls and haul-in cattle working facilities for small groups.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Responsibility of the student is to gain as much experience within a busy mixed animal clinic as they feel comfortable and willing to do.  Some opportunities may be limited to the amount of extra time available within a busy practice but every effort is made to allow student experience if the student is competent and comfortable with the procedure or technique.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

In most cases, students may stay with the practice owners at their home but if not other arrangements can be made.
