Description of Elective Experience: 

We are a full service general practice with a varied and intensive caseload including surgery, dentistry, internal medicine/endocrinology as well as wellness interests. We are a busy 2.5 doctor practice. We have multiple specialists who come in - ultrasound, orthopedics and cardiology on a rotating basis as needed. We enjoy getting our externs into the everyday excitement that comes with our hospital and are excited to have them hands-on in all aspects of our medical and surgical cases. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Ultrasound, digital radiography and dental radiography, doppler BP, ECG, cryotherapy. 

We have 1 RVT and 4 full time veterinary assistants, 2.5 doctors. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

8 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, Saturday optional but we have doctor hours 9am-5pm. 

We will have the students shadowing and hands-on according to their comfort level  - surgical scrub in/ hands-on. Student will be paired with senior doctor on staff and will be expected to do PE's, vaccines, injections, procedures to their comfort level. Medical record-keeping as well (we use Avimark EMR).

MVP stipend to student for Air BNB or other accomodation.
