Students will be able to observe and participate in all aspects of small animal medicine. We offer dentistry, soft tissue and elective surgeries, internal medicine and inpatient and outpatient care. Students will learn about client care along with patient care to be successful as a practitioner. Opportunities to work closely with staff along with the doctor will allow students to develop communication skills, time management, and staff management. Students will also learn about practice management, marketing, and financial considerations.
We have a staff of 7; 1 veterinarian, 2 technicians, 1 receptionist, 1 office manager, 1 kennel assistant, and 1 kennel/groomer. Laser surgery and therapy laser are used here. Analog radiography, high speed dental drill, tonometry, blood pressure, ekg, and capnography are used as well.
Students will be available Mon 10:30-6, Tues and Thurs 9-7, Fri 9-12, and Saturday 9-1. Initial shadowing with ability to assist/perform elective surgeries with direct veterinary supervision, venipuncture and catheter placement, assist in exam rooms and with client communications and patient care.
