Description of Elective Experience: 

Growing multi-doctor AAHA practice in small lake town in central Ohio. Practice is 25 minutes from Columbus. Owner and all current veterinary staff are OSU CVM alumni - Go Bucks! New facility with a support staff of 16 RVTs and knowledgeable receptionist team. Encouraging team approach to work and a supportive mentoring environment. We offer full service care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets, resulting in interesting work and client loyalty. Practice is well equipped with CT imaging, digital radiography, in house blood machines, ultrasound etc. Hands on approach to externships. Varied case load, never a boring day. Level of mentoring and support tailored to student needs. 

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

5 DVMs; 17 RVTs; medical library; CT scanner, digital radiographs, ultrasound, Idexx blood machines, therapy laser, in house training program w/ certified Fear Free trainer

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Student schedule is flexible - expected to work ~36- 40 hours / 5 days / week - we are open 8 am - 8 pm, on call until 11:30 pm M-F; Saturday 8-5, on call until 1130 pm; Sunday on call all day.  We do NOT expect you to be here all the hours we are open! This opportunity is for the student, not to provide free labor for our clinic :-)  Case load, surgies and autonomy based on comfort and ability.
