Description of Elective Experience:
1:1 DVM shadowing, case review and rounding, assist with procedures depending on comfort level
Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.:
Specialty Hospital -
24 hr ER/ICU - Blood Products, High flow O2
1 Criticalist
2 Surgeons - ortho and ST suites
2 Neurologists - MRI
1.5 Radiologists - CT, MRI, U/S
1 Internist - Scope
Cardiologist - Part time
Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?:
Minimum 4 days x 10 hrs, welcome to spend more time at student discretion. 1:1 DVM shadowing - Extern coordinator available at anytime to offer support
Students are expected to arrive on time (as indicated by service), dress in a professional manner (as indicated by service) and engage in patient case discussions. Certain services will provide specific topic rounds based on student interest and caseload.
