Students will have the opportunity to work in all facets of private practice. Our practice sees everything from routine companion animal appointments, to emergencies, farm calls, and health certificates. Students will have hands-on experiences that will encourage independent thinking, problem solving, and effective communication with clients and industry professionals. The focus is heavily placed on building confidence and medical widening horizons.
We are currently a two doctor practice staffed with two full time registered veterinary technicians and five veterinary assistants. Our practice houses IDEXX diagnostic equipment such as the Procyte, Sedivue, and Catalyst. We've also recently upgraded our radiographic equipment and added ultrasonography to our services.
Students will work four days weekly with the option of adding weekend hours if desired. Our work day runs from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm with a one hour lunch period. Each day, students will work alongside one of the doctors to complete the daily appointments, surgeries, and farm calls. Students will be responsible for running and interpreting diagnostic tests/imaging under the guidance of a clinician, as well as creating complete differential lists and proper medical record keeping. Other duties may include reception of in-person clients and phone calls, creation of estimates, and operation of the cash register.
