Description of Elective Experience: 

To provide students with broad exposure to general small animal practice with heavy emphasis on small animal (primarily canine) reproduction. We also can provide experience in canine breeding and breeding management, performing vaginal, surgical and transcervical inseminations, c-sections, pregnancy ultrasound, prostatic and testicular ultrasounds, semen collection, evaluation and freezing, ovarian sparing surgery and vasectomies.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

Staff: two veterinarians, five technicians, one office manager, two receptionists.

Equipement: well equiped small animal practice, computerized, digital radiogrpahy, endoscopy, ultrasound, surgical monitoring equipment, in-house laboratory equipment.

Computer resources and access.

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are able to complete 80 hours for the elective.  Would be Monday through Sat, with varing hours each day (from 4 to 12 depending on the day).  Students are encouraged to "support" or shadow depending on the students comfort level and experience, but always under direct supervision of attending veterinarian.

Student Housing (include costs, amenities, pet friendly, contact info if different from elective contact info): 

May be able to provide a room for students at no cost, pet's OK as long as pet gets along with cat's and dog's, shared bathroom, wifi and cable.
