Description of Elective Experience: 

Students will gain practical, hands-on experience in an AAFP gold level feline friendly practice. We follow low stress handling recommendations and perform everything from wellness visits and vaccinations to complicated medical workups.

Institutional and Educational Resources - staffing, equipment, etc.: 

We have an in-house lab, IV pumps, Cardell anesthesia monitor, digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, ultrasound, surgery room, therapy laser, heated cages, isolation and boarding facilities. 

Student Responsibilities - what is expected of students in terms of hours, days of the week, shadowing or actual support?: 

Students are expected to learn about cats, interpreting their behavior and gentle but safe handling. Students will be allowed to interact with clients, utilize all equipment, draw blood, place IV catheters, perform dental cleanings and extractions, and perform or assist in surgeries depending on their level of experience. We expect each student to work 40 hours per week, but hours may vary depending on the day. Saturday mornings are optional.
